DG Consulting with Garry Smith in the lead developed a series of Fact Sheets for the Victorian Department of Primary Industries to assist key stakeholders of the department in understanding contemporary water policy changes. The Fact Sheets addressed water policy changes of relevance in Northern Victoria as reflected by their titles which were: Water trading – 4% cap and exemptions; Carryover and spillable water accounts; Farm water program – on-farm irrigation efficiency; Modernisation; Reserve policy; and Sustainable diversion limits for the Murray-Darling Basin. Garry also made presentations to a series of information sessions in early 2011 for departmental staff, specialist farm service providers and irrigation farmers.
